Yup
The intensive language course thus far seems to be a joke. I think it would do the students much more good if they would send us out on missions to converse with the people of Konstanz. Make an assignment in which we have to go to a cell phone store and find out information about a couple of phones and then perhaps write a one page report on our findings. I feel that would help me much more than reviewing the German simple past tense for the umpteenth time.

I met Keith, a crazy Irish lad, about a week ago. He lives three doors down from me. I have not seen any Scottish kids here yet and when thinking about it I decided to ask Keith from Ireland what he thought of them. His response,

"They're too girly to fight the English, but they're too Irish to hate them."
And when asked about the Irish and their take on soccer he says,

"Well there are two kinds of people in Ireland. Those who love soccer and those who hate the English and therefore hate soccer.". Keith is extremely funny. The other night during a get together he took out his guitar and began singing about everyone in the room. I am convinced he'll make millions some day doing stand up comedy.

The Irish kids are as fed up with the internet here as I am, so today we went out searching for a private internet service. When it's all said and done the private service will only cost 45 euros a month. This means, between the 4 of us, we'll be paying a little over 10 euro a month, or as the Irish kids say, "a tenner“. This also means I will be paying about 5 euro less a month for an internet which actually works. Crazy huh.

I went to a big barbecue the other night with a bunch of the exchange students. I met Gabrielle from Lithuania, who believes I’m a girl for thinking it was cold outside. To be quite honest I don’t take much offense to this because...well...she’s from Lithuania! By my standards it is always cold in Lithuania. It was freezing outside though, I assure you.

Gabrielle and Jon from Arizona

Tine from Slovenia and Ferran from Barcelona

Keith from Ireland. He just looks hilarious.

The English Girls, Katherine and Meredith.

The Whole Gang, minus a few. Gabrielle, Jon, Anna, Ferran, Alex, Ruben, Kevin, Lanny, Tine.
After the barbecue everyone saddled up and went to the Dance Palace. The club itself had a cool concept; having 4 mini-clubs inside one. One club had a western motif, but played 80’s Euro dance pop. Another club played contemporary music and resembled a modern day club. Finally, there was disco type place and a room with crazy lights and trance music for the raver in us all. I didn’t stay long because I didn’t feel like dancing and, despite having 4 clubs, didn‘t hear any good music either. Luckily the Dance Palace was in walking distance of my hovel and I made it back home on foot in less than 20 minutes.
Keith from Ireland and I challenged some German kids, who always hang out in front of our apartment, to a soccer match. There is a really nice soccer pitch close to my hovel. The soccer pitches here are like basketball courts in America. They are everywhere. When we arrived at the playground there were some boys there playing street ball. I was in awe by how good they all were. We played soccer for about two hours and we’ll probably play again tonight. Hanging out with the German boys is a good way to learn the language plus I am learning a lot of useful curse words.
