With the summer beginning to wind down there is much to talk about indeed, but I'll start
with work.
It ended yesterday, which makes me ecstatic because I no longer have to wake up in the
morning, at all. My job this summer consisted of cutting grass and raking bunkers at a
golf course not to far from my house . It was a lovely little setting for a summer job, to be
sure, accessorized with outstandingly large trees, rolling hills, and immaculately groomed grass and bunkers. All that being said, at 5:30 in the morning, this quaint little golf course resembled something somewhere between the fifth and sixth levels of hell. To say I hated waking up for this job would be an understatement and even though my workmates were cool, I certainly will not miss working at the Deerwood Country Club any time soon. Oh, and I left beautiful Deerwood with a going away present, poison ivy down my legs and ankles. Thanks Deerwood!
While I'm very excited to head off to Germany, saying goodbye to my friends isn't so much fun. One of my best friends, Bobby, departed Friday morning on his way back to Virginia Tech. Saying goodbye was a lot harder than I thought it would be. We spent a lethargic Thursday evening watching TV and going to Wendy's. The two of us ordered the plain spicy chicken sandwich, which was delectable to say the least. We spent about two hours talking and we both agree that Wendy's is the most regal of the fast food
restaurants, with it's plush carpet floors and wild flowers abound. We also made predictions about what our other friends will be doing and where they'll be a year from now. Hanging out with Bobby was always a good time and is something I'll surely miss.
As for packing, I haven't done any yet, but I have thought about it. I got those cool space saver bags in the mail last week. My mom and I couldn't help but try them out and they work well.
Have you ever played the game where you are on a deserted island and you have to choose your favorite four movies to take with you? This game has become all to true for me as I think about packing. Although Germany is far from a deserted island, under the circumstances it is comparable. I have to pack for a year abroad, so sadly I can't take all my movies. I have narrowed it down to four I can't live without while I'm abroad. Being the Anglophile that I am, British movies are a bit over represented taking three out of the
four spots.
Ok, enough babble. It is my first day off from work and I am going to spend it being listless. Till later.
