The Internet, Finally
So today was a rather large day. I received several items in the mail, including two birthday letters from my lovely Kristen, my Sparkasse bank card, and my package of goodies from Blogabroad. The package was originally sent to my home in New Jersey, so before sending it off to Germany my mother packed it full of candy, most of which I have already consumed, guaranteeing I'll be up the rest of the night.
Today I spoke with the "Internetmeister" and he fixed my situation (I always feel like Puff Daddy when I say the word situation. On the Proactive commercial he explains how the facial cream fixed his "situation". Oh Puffy, what a character you are. I hope everyone reading this has seen that commercial, otherwise all of this is just babble to you. Anyway back to my day.), so the internet is working just dandy. I am happy about that.
In other news, Oktoberfest begins this weekend and my friends and I had planned to hop the train to Munich for a weekend of sight seeing and perhaps an alcoholic beverage or five. Very unfortunately I believe those plans have been canceled. Keith's grandmother past away this evening and he will be heading back to Ireland for a couple of days. It just wouldn't be the same without him, so we decided to postpone our trip until he gets back.
Sarah, Keith, Matt, and I have all been shopping at the second hand stores here in Konstanz in an attempt to abolish the clinical decor of our rooms. We made out like freaking bandits at this one shop. Sarah bought herself a double bed for 10 euro; Keith got himself a couch for 35 euro and a coffee table for 15 euro. Keith also picked up a TV for 5 euro, which pissed Matt off because the day before he had bought a smaller TV for 160 euro, but that is neither here nor there. Matt bought a stand for his TV for 35 euro and I practically stole a rug for 20 euro. My rug is sweet as hell! It really ties the room together. I couldn't imagine myself stepping onto a cold tile floor on a winter morning, just to go to class. So I consider this rug as an investment into my education. Speaking of investments, I think I have justified buy myself a small TV here in Konstanz as well. I imagine it would really help my German if I were to watch TV for two hours every night. Forget the fact that I will be able to watch football whenever I want. That hadn't even crossed my mind till now, I assure you.
Well I have more to write, but it is nearly 2 in the morning so I'll be going to bed. I leave you with a picture of my hovel. Sorry it is so dark, but in a way it makes it look more comfy.

Mein Zimmer. Ein bißen mehr gemütlich. Notice the rug.
