Charlotte moved out this morning leaving Pete and I the sole occupants of apartment 29. The prospect of having only one roommate is amazing, but what’s even more brilliant is that we can now convert our apartment into the bachelor pad I’ve always wanted. This place, over the next two months, is going to be nothing, but Gamecube playing, football watching, and whatever else we men feel like to do. Ironically, despite the massive partying which will be taking place on a regular basis, and the fact that we are two dudes, the place is going to be cleaner than ever before.
Faschingsfest. The one day of the year where the drunkards of Konstanz don't have to feel like social outcasts, as everyone from old ladies to little kids are carouse in the streets till the wee hours of the morning. Traditionally you are suppose to wake up at 6 o’clock to enjoy a morning sausage and beer. Students from and town folk wake up at the crack of dawn and begin marching down the streets, banging drums and making racket in order to stir up the rest of us. I ended up waking up at 11, I felt not all traditions should be abided by. I went into the city to check out the action and the sights and sounds were like nothing I’ve ever seen before. People everyone having a blast and making quite a mess, including this little bastard who was running around slapping everyone on the tush with his little paddle.
Once the sun goes down everyone loses the costumes and clothe themselves completely in white. Once this is done there is a huge parade down the streets of Konstanz which anyone can participate in. My friends and I watched for a while and then joined in ourselves. It was a unique experience to say the least. After the parade, we made our way back to Europahaus where we had some drinks before going out to a club.
With the entire day being taken into account, it could have possibly been the best time in Konstanz thus far. We went dancing till around 230 in the morning and then stumbled back to Europahaus where I collapsed into bed, not to wake up till 1130 the next morning. I could have slept longer, but I sure wasn't going to miss out on the Friday morning pancake breakfast.
I have to get pictures of the night parade from friends, but they will be up soon. Promise. Till later.
